Downloading Netscape Navigator
Netscape Navigator is a web browser. It enables you to see pages like
this one. Another such web browser is Microsoft Internet Explorer.
Texas.Net provides a software package called Updates that will
retrieve and install Netscape to your machine in one easy step.
Downloading Using WS-FTP
- Double-click on the WS_FTP icon localted in the Texas.Net
icon group.
- A window will appear labeled Session Profile. Click on the down
arror labeled Profile Name and scroll until you find Netscape.
- Remove everything in the Remote Host field and carefully
type in
/pub/navigator/3.04/shipping/english/
windows/windows3.1/navigator_standard
(all on one line with no spaces). Then click OK.
- Highlight with a single click on the file n16e303.exe. and click
on the arrow pointing left. It will display the transfer status window
showing a percentage bar.
- When it finishes, open File Manager and go to the texasnet
directory and then to the ws_ftp directory.
- Double-click on the file n16e303.exe. It will switch to a black
screen or DOS window and extract several files.
- When it finishes, switch back to File Manager. Press the F5
key to refresh the screen and it will display the new extracted files.
- Double-click on the setup.exe. This will begin the installation
process for Netscape Navigator.
