Installing From A Texas.Net CD

The Texas.Net CD contains installation programs for Open Transport, OT/PPP, and Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.01a. You may run the Install program, or you may manually install these programs. The Install program will install these programs and configure them for you. These instructions cover manual installation.

PART A - Installing Open Transport 1.1.1/2

Do this only if you do not have Open Transport installed or your installed version of Open Transport is older than 1.1.2

  1. After inserting the Texas.Net CD into the CD-ROM drive, copy the following folders to your hard drive:
    • Open Transport 1.1.1 Install
    • Open Transport 1.1.2 Install
    • OT/PPP 1.0 Install
  2. After these are copied, restart the computer with the Extensions turned off. To do this, hold down the Shift key on your keyboard as the computer begins to start back up. Continue to do this until you see a message saying 'Extensions Disabled' or 'Extensions Off'.
  3. After the computer has started up, double-click on the hard drive icon in the upper right.
  4. Find the folder named 'Open Transport 1.1.1 Install' and double-click on it.
  5. Find the item inside the folder named 'Installer' and double-click on it.
  6. Click on 'Continue', then on 'Install'.
  7. Once Open Transport 1.1.1 has finished installing, it will ask you to restart. Please do so with the Extensions disabled.
  8. After the computer has started up, double-click on the hard drive icon in the upper right.
  9. Find the folder named 'Open Transport 1.1.2 Install' and double-click on it.
  10. Find the item inside the folder named 'Installer' and double-click on it.
  11. Click on 'Continue', then on 'Install'.
  12. Once Open Transport 1.1.1 has finished installing, it will ask you to restart. Please do so with the Extensions disabled. When the computer comes back up, open your hard drive in the upper right corner.
  13. Find the folder named 'OT/PPP 1.0 Install' and double-click on it.
  14. Find the item inside the folder named 'Installer' and double-click on it.
  15. Click on 'Continue', then on 'Install'.
  16. Once OT/PPP 1.0 has finished installing, you will again be prompted to restart your computer. Do so, but this time, do not turn of Extensions (just reboot normally).
